2023 Camp Fees: $600 plus GST-includes bus transportation

Welcome to the Summer Pony Sense Day Camp at the Bar JO Ranch. We offer a fun-filled, five day adventure on horseback for pony enthusiasts that are 5 to 7 years old every week during July and August.
The participants are bused to and from Calgary and area every day. There are convenient pick-up and drop-off points in the city as well as at the Bearspaw Lifestyle Centre and in Cochrane. You may choose your own transportation, but please note registration fees will not be adjusted.
ALL CHILDREN MUST BRING A LUNCH FROM HOME. PREPACKAGED SNACKS AND BEVERAGES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE (CANDY, CHIPS, POP, WATER)

Each weekly session focuses on safety, basic riding skills and overall common sense interaction with a pony.

Campers will learn techniques in:
*the manner in which they approach a pony
*general behavior and interaction with ponies
*identifying and differentiating between a halter and a bridle
*proper procedures in tying, grooming and saddling a pony
*correctly mounting a pony
*proper ways of steering and stopping a pony

A highlight of working with a live animal is the bond that develops between pony and rider. Participants have the opportunity to feed their pony treats such as carrots or apples (provided from home).

Our goal is to provide a SAFE, FUN and EDUCATIONAL horse experience for children aged 5 to 7. We encourage your questions or concerns at any time.
